Do you have Faith?

Faith and love are the two most important ingredients to a fulfilled life. And, one without the other has little value. You can do good things, but if you don’t do them because of love, they won’t be accredited as righteousness.

This is similar to faith, if relying on luck to bring success, faith isn’t in the equation. But, when relying on God to bring success to your efforts, faith opens the door to his blessings.

“There is only one God, and he makes people right with himself only by faith, whether they are Jews or Gentiles. Well then, if we emphasize faith, does this mean that we can forget about the law? Of course not! In fact, only when we have faith do we truly fulfill the law.”
‭‭(Rom‬ans ‭3:30-31‬)

Having developed a close relationship with God, faith becomes an Integral part of life. For example, after waking up you might thank him for good sleep, or an informative dream. Faith is the basis for believing he had anything to do with those things.

Perhaps later while driving to work, traffic is hectic, cars are going every which way, and your inclined to thank him for keeping you safe. Perhaps while at work you notice things are going well, and get an urge to thank him for blessing your day.

Faith is simply trusting God, expecting him to follow through with promises and to be honorable. Believing he will actually flex his awesome power on our behalf is the beginning of faith. Expecting him to bring success to our efforts, and assign angels to protect us, is trusting his promises.

Faith is a wide spectrum of trust, pertaining to everything we deal with on a daily basis. When walking with God, he is interested in even the smallest details of our lives. Having developed the habit of faith walking, life will be an adventure with surprise blessings.

Faith is what God rewards, anything we do in faith is significant, and never goes unnoticed. God searches for people who are willing to trust him while risking a lot, and even while risking a little.

“Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.”
‭‭(John‬ ‭8:31‬)

When we seek God with a sincere heart, he makes himself known by faith. Since we have never seen him, trusting our names are written in the Book of Life is by faith. Only prayers spoken in faith are relevant. Even hoping in God’s promises get his attention, this is the beginning of faith.

“But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners.”
(Romans‬ ‭4‬:‭5‬)

The best way to make faith stronger is by exercise. Someone may believe they have faith, but never apply it to actual trust, not willing to take a risk with God. Faith will wither if it doesn’t get flexed, and lack of use renders it worthless. If this is the case, the person isn’t walking with God.

“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”
(‭‭James‬ ‭4:8‬)

If this seems familiar, it’s time for a conscious decision to draw closer to God. If there’s a task you’ve been deferring because it’s too big, this is an opportunity to practice using faith. After gathering verses stating God will help, talk it over with him before stepping into the task. When doing this, it’s important to not give up on him.

He may test faith by waiting until the last minute before bringing complete success. After working at a task for a long time and see no significant progress, you may be tempted to believe God isn’t interested.

… Unless your faith is firm, I cannot make you stand firm.”
‭(Isa‬iah ‭7‬:‭9‬)

If your faith falters, God can’t be blamed for failure. You have to be willing to go all the way to the end in faith, actually preferring failure at a high cost, over giving up on God. This kind of faith draws blessings to your efforts, and intercessory prayers.

He may test you on this, but once it’s in your heart to never give up on him, then he won’t need to test you anymore. This is when trusting God becomes a way of life. Seeing him doing things on your behalf vitalizes faith.

If someone is having trouble getting started with faith, there are two main methods for initiating trust in God. First, draw closer to him, believing you are right with him strengthens faith. Also, a closeness with God will illuminate lingering sins, then steps can be taken to overcome, lingering sins are faith killers.

Second, become familiar with God’s Word. The more known about him and his promises, the greater expectation will be for him to do things on your behalf, expectation is evidence of faith.

“Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.”
‭‭(Romans‬ ‭5:2‬)

The most important aspect to our lives is faith walking. This is what God expects, intending for us to be recipients of his awesome blessings. When giving his Kingdom first priority, we can walk with confidence and courage. This is how it was meant to be, he loves to bless us when we get it right.

“This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”
‭‭(Romans‬ ‭1:17‬)

“For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.”
‭‭(Heb‬rews ‭3:14‬)
